Israel accuses U.N. forces of downing IDF drone in Lebanon border area
Israel has accused U.N. peacekeeping troops in Lebanon of shooting down one of its drones near the border town of Kfar Kila, citing it was on a routine intelligence gathering mission.
According to Israeli officials, the incident occurred on Sunday when the IDF drone was conducting surveillance operations in the border region. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that the drone was shot down by U.N. forces without warning while it was flying over Lebanese territory.
In response, Israel has lodged a formal complaint with the United Nations over the incident, condemning the actions of the U.N. peacekeepers. The Israeli military emphasized that the drone was on a routine mission and posed no threat to U.N. personnel or Lebanese civilians.
The U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has not yet responded to the accusations made by Israel. The drone incident has heightened tensions in the volatile border area between Israel and Lebanon, with both sides closely monitoring the situation.
